PROGRAMS

Creative World of Montessori is a private school for children Age 3 through Grade 3. The Montessori curriculum promotes the development of the whole child through the use of specific materials that appeal to each individual child. The goal of the Montessori Method is to inspire a child’s own natural desire to learn while developing important life skills. The materials are self correcting allowing the child to repeat and refine their skills at his/her own pace without being pressured to compete with other children in the classroom. The child can follow his/her own interests in an environment that promotes respect for self and others.

Our Montessori program focuses on individual instruction, group participation, and free play. Each child has a personalized program according to their needs and development. The program includes many phases of education in order to nurture the “whole child”. These phases, developed simultaneously include:

Exercises in Practical Life
These activities are geared to the child’s person and environment. They aid in the development of each child’s growth in the areas of extension of the attention span, development of orderly work habits, and the enhancement of the child’s self image through independent care of himself.

Sensorial Development
Through the use of specially designed Montessori apparatus, the child explores the properties of color, weight, and dimension. Hand-eye coordination, which is necessary in both reading and writing, is highly developed in these exercises.

Language
This area includes the development of vocabulary, writing, reading, grammar and comprehension. The children begin work with phonics and progress into word and sentence structure, and then into reading books and writing stories. Library and storytelling are also part of this program.

Mathematics
The children are introduced to the understanding of mathematical processes through the use of concrete materials rather than abstract memorization of rules. They begin with a quantitative knowledge of numbers up to ten, and then proceed to work higher numbers. Once a solid base has been formed, the children begin to explore the functions of addition, subtraction, multiplication, etc.

Enrichment Programs
In addition to our Montessori readiness program, science, music, and art are integrated throughout the school day. Kinesiology, computer technology, outdoor exploration, and the introduction to Spanish as a second language are also part of our program.

Extended Hours
The children attend the Montessori classes during the regular school hours. In the extended hours they have outdoor play, creative indoor play, and creative learning projects. Extended hours also cover many regular school holidays that parents must work.
